The December Archilife Public Policy Communion of 2015 was held on December 20, 2015. After a series of relaxing and fun activities, Secretary General Huang Chin-ying made the following announcement, "The world has lately been under the threat of terrorist attack, and Taiwan's national security unit has also lifted the alert level in response. So, we would like to remind Archilife members to take care of your own security. In addition, under the influence of climate change, social insecurity arises and daily life changes. Therefore, although we had better make decisions conservatively, we must should keep going and seek a secure way based on a flexible, adaptive, and jump-island strategy. We hope all Archilife members can work together to set root in Taiwan and think globally to bring humankind towards a future of hope." Later on, the eight new knowledge keepers took turns to introduce themselves to the members.
Next on the schedule was the keynote speech. First, Miss Yen Hsiu-hui, a member of the Public Policy Committee, presented a speech on the "Introduction to the Pollution Dispute Settlement System". First, Yen introduced the legal means of environmental protection in Taiwan and emphasized that the report was presented from the victim's point of view. Then, she explained the method of settling pollution disputes with the civil law, the types of civil remedy and applicable laws. Next, she introduced the methods for settling pollution disputes, including the purpose, definition, variety, claim, the types of compensation, and design process. The law made to help the disadvantaged has two main features: assistance from executive authorities in fact investigation and a lower cost. Lastly, the speaker illustrated the application of the law with floral damage and noise pollution for participants to further understand the actual settlement of pollution disputes.
Next, Mr. Tai Yung-ti, a member of the Public Policy Committee, spoke on "The Misconception of Macro-symbiosis". First, Tai described the macro-symbiosis system includes the entire biosphere on earth, and the symbiosis between man and nature is the central topic of macro-symbiosis. Due to mass population growth and urbanization after the Industrial Revolution, the humankind was cut off from nature. Then, Tai explained the evolution of the human thought concerning the environment: from primitive symbiosis to surpassing nature after industrialization, development of the concept of environmental impact evaluation, and sustainable development to deep ecology. Lastly, Tai maintained that although Western society believes that destruction will be the end of humankind, as Archilife has long been exploring symbiosis and digital civilization, this will be the self-remediation solution for Taiwan.
After the speech, Secretary General Huang Chin-ying presented a gift to the speakers on behalf of the foundation. Then, attendees expressed and exchanged their opinions and views during the piggy hour. The December Archilife Public Policy Communion ended smoothly.
