For the study tour of July 19, 2025, Ms. Lu Ming-yun led 17 ARF interns and their parents on a trip to Taoyuan to explore HSR and creative manufacturing. The first stop was Taiwan High Speed Rail Museum in Zhongli. Through multimedia exhibits and interactive installations, everyone learned how Taiwan HSR was planned and constructed, and its operation today, linking the north and south, and shortening distances between cities. Walking into a 1:1 scale model of a HSR driver's cab, everyone was dazzled by various control and status indicators. Vying to sit in the driver's seat, interns were transfixed and excited as they grasped the control stick, pretending that the train was hurtling at 300km/h along the track. The immersive experience gave everyone greater understanding of HSR operation, and stoked interest in technology and engineering. Next, at Dayuan Jianshan Archaeological Exhibition Hall, everyone was greeted by a lively introduction to the discovery of Jianshan historical site. In 1931, the accidental excavation of unusual rocks at the construction site of Dayuan Elementary School attracted much attention. It was verified as an archaeological site after the war but was only officially marked for conservation in 2007. Over the past decades, close to 100,000 neolithic relics have been excavated. Most of Taoyuan's inhabitants settled along the coast or riverbank and left traces of daily life on a higher ground when the tableland rose up over time. Most of the relics found are in fragments. They are believed to be objects thrown away by early people in their daily living and have remained intact due to their being buried in the dumping ground. While the exhibition hall is small, interactive devices, circulation design and image/text displays show that the historical site is not just a stationary collection of relics but evidence of the interaction between "Yuanshan culture" and "botanical garden culture." Its precious value as an important prehistoric cultural heritage site of northern Taiwan remains highly valued. After lunch, everyone visited Simba Lion Imagination Factory in Longtan. Guided by the tour instructor, they first entered the Imagination Production Zone, where they learned about the three primary colors through interactive exhibits and operated ink-filling machines to make customized color pens. Passing through the Glow-in-the-Dark Tunnel, everyone admired fluorescent paintings and light installations that created a dreamy, magical atmosphere. In the Special Exhibition Zone, interns and their parents used fluorescent pens to draw glowing artworks on white paper. While in the Creative Experience Zone, everyone freely expressed their imagination on white walls and sculptures, enjoying the fun of painting anywhere. Afterward, everyone took a group photo in the Creative Daily Life Zone, surrounded by its playful, childlike setting, capturing warm and joyful memories of the day. During the DIY session, everyone designed creative pencil pouch by using the negative space effect of marine animal stickers, combined with the flowing and bubbling techniques of marbling art, to create their own unique undersea worlds. Everyone learned the principles of color and art, which help develop hands-on ability and self-expression, ending the tour on a colorful and fulfilling note. |
