The symbiotic recycling system is designed for "human beings" and nourished by "green plants". By utilizing sunlight, water and CO2 in the air, green plants form a natural symbiotic relationship with soil, microorganisms, and insects in the environment. In our planting system, edible plants are grown, which not only provide good sources of food, but also cool down the temperature by sheltering out direct radiation of sunlight, enrich our visual delight, and produce beneficial symbiotic microbes. All these will help us to achieve the symbiosis between humans and nature.
  The planting system at "Symbiosphere 1 Center" consists of two parts: vertical planting systems and latticework shelter on the top of the building. The vertical planting systems look just like an elevator surrounding walls of green leaf vegetable on the three sides of the Center, and the plants in buckets are rotated up and down to absorb sunshine. Water is supplied from a pool in the button of the system, automatically. Vertical planting systems exemplify a labor-safe way of plantation and a maximum use of the available space. Furthermore, the vertical planting system forms a green curtain of evaporation to cool down the air inside the building of the Center and thus reduce the energy consumed for air conditioning. Moreover, plants on the vertical planting systems can be a major source of symbiotic meals. Unlike the vertical planting systems, which adopt a three-dimention plantation, the latticework shelter on the third floor of the Center is practiced by the way of traditional horizontal agriculture. Grown in this area are mainly vegetables and fruits in big size or that requires larger space, such as climbing plants. Likewise, plants on the shelter, in addition to cooling down the temperature and providing shade, come handy as a good source of symbiotic meals.

  The plants on both the vertical planting systems and shelter are cultivated in an organic way. Wild edible species endemic to the neighborhood of the Center are selected as the main crops of the system, while a few others are cultivar of vegetables that are mix-cultivated with wild vegetables so as to increase the variety of food sources. The mixed-cultivation of edible wild plants and cultivars are practiced because under this condition they are more resistant to the pests and diseases, and thus the use of pesticides is not required. Regular taking wild vegetables are believed to be helpful to our health because they provide some rare nutrients or medicinal components that enhance our immunity.

  On the whole, the planting system is the basis to construct the symbiotic recycling at "Symbiosphere 1 Center." The system is closely connected with our daily life since it transforms humans' "output" (e.g. human waste) to plants' "input" (e.g. fertilizers) and plants' "output" (e.g. leaves and stems) to humans' "input" (e.g. vegetables), thus establishing a symbiotic recycling. As the rate of recycling increases, the burdens on the environment caused by human activities would be reduced. Therefore, the way of life under the symbiotic recycling can fundamentally overcome the shortcomings of urban civilization, and reduce the burden on the nature caused by industrialization and urbanization, thus ensuring sustainability of the mankind.
